Service here was exceptional.. Friendly, attentive despite being busy - Caspar had warmth and personality. The bouillabaisse was delicious, plenty of seafood and perfectly spiced. The hake with langoustine tail chowder had a sauce to die for. Ben (the chef) full marks to you. All coupled with a lovely sea view.
16:14 26 Oct 21
Been a few times over the years and always a very nice experience. This time went with large group and between us we had otter ale, crab sarnies, fish soup, mussels, veggie special and fish and chips. All very tasty as usual
13:12 25 Oct 21
Very busy when 4 of us descended in the rain. Lovely friendly staff and wonderful fresh food. Would recommend the mussels! Well worth a visit.
06:17 23 Oct 21
We were welcomed to the Harbour Inn as "walk-ins", it was quite busy, and led to a suitable table. The service was not as brisk but that had to be due to the number of covers and the staff available to service them. However the food was very acceptable, freshly cooked and not unreasonably priced. Would we recommend the Harbour Inn?; there is no logical reason as to why we could not do that .

The seafood platter was delicious! There were plenty of different tastes and textures, and it was all beautifully fresh. The cheese platter was tasty, however a couple of unusual, local cheeses would have been welcomed. The waiting staff were great - all very helpful. Unfortunately, the restaurant experience was somewhat spoiled by the number of flies everywhere, especially on the fly paper hanging next to our table...
20:58 09 Jun 21
Had a booking but left standing unnoticed at the door for quite a while whilst staff ran around running food and serving tables. A dedicated greeter would really benefit here. Once seated, the food and service really delivered. The bouillabaisse was delicious, would definitely go again just for that.
20:26 30 May 21
We had lunch outside on the beach front in the enclosed area across the path. The fish platter was fantastic, especially the prawn and lobster cocktail and tempura mackerel. Great friendly service and kids meals were immensely enjoyed. This place totally beat expectations for a Bank Holiday weekend in one the most popular spots. We’ve eaten here before and it was good then, so it wasn’t a fluke. Thoroughly recommended.
14:18 22 May 21
Came here last night, had the seafood platter. It was amazing, liked it so much we came again the next day. Would highly recommend ti's place. The lad that served us was lovely too.
10:31 22 May 21
Fantastic! Great atmosphere and incredible food. Lots of varied and delicious gluten free options and selection of specials. Very dog friendly, highly recommended everything!
22:17 08 May 21
Absolutely lovely staffs, amazing food! We have not booked but the staffs agrees to call us upon an empty slot opens up. Very helpful and polite. The food is amazing! I had the seafood platter, every ingredient is fresh and well prepared.
19:50 28 Sep 20
Delicious food. Very handsome and friendly waiter. Very good value for money. Highly recommendable.
14:54 26 Sep 20
Social distancing / covid all well organised.Friendly welcoming staff and a great menu.Good service very good food, well recommended.
13:55 25 Sep 20
Food was fantastic on the 1st day we went, recommend the Special -Harbour Inn Fish Platter (lobster and prawn cocktail, Portman crab, tempura mackrel, smoked mackrel pate, salmon and salmon in puff pastry). We shared a special with a side of chips it was more than enough for two. Staff were super friendly and helpful on day one. Went back the following day and they had mixed up our table booking time meaning rather than being sat for 1.30 we did not get a table until 2.10, customer service was definitely not as good the 2nd time (different staff). 2nd order was again from the specials menu: vegetarian aubergine lasagne and the scallops with katsu curry (also the main menu beer battered fish and chips). Recommend booking in advance as its often fully booked.
13:47 24 Sep 20
Simply amazing. We had mussels to start and fish and chips for main. The food tasted so fresh and was delicious. The large mussles was a great sized portion, as was the fish and chips. Great covid measures in place, with plenty of sanitising stations, all staff wearing face coverings. Had to wear a mask when not seated (to go toilet/waiting for table) which I thought was great. Tables sanitised between customers. All staff were extremely polite, attentive and helpful. Views were amazing. Would recommend booking as was consistently busy inside and out whilst we were there.
18:11 06 Sep 20
Great good, beach front location, attentive staff. Pleased to see some real attention being given to covid measures with thorough clean down between covers and social distancing in place. 👍
09:33 21 Feb 20
Nice place this, loads of choice along the front for a bite to eat and drink so this was a random walk in, bright and clean with pleasant staff, although we did get passed over to order when some locals walked in, bit naughty that. Food was good fish platter was excellent according to my wife, definitely would return as long as not full of locals so we didn't get served.
14:16 15 Feb 20
I cannot rate this place enough. The fish was incredible, the chips were perfect and the setting is relaxed. Have been multiple times now and each and every time they never let me down.
18:21 10 Feb 20
Surprisingly good. I have found that seaside restaurants can be indifferent. This place served up a tasty vegetarian meal--butternut squash tarjine. Recommended.
09:04 10 Feb 20
Nice food and a friendly atmosphere. The menu doesn't change that often but there are some nice options including local fish. The service was great.
19:31 15 Jan 20
Good food and service. Creamy fish soup for lunch served with crusty bread very tasty. Didn't drink because I'm doing dry January.
10:23 12 Jan 20
Never had a bad meal here. Good service as well. Lovely atmosphere
07:54 10 Jan 20
What a little gem! Decided to go here on a whim and glad we did. Food was excellent and the members of staff were extremely polite and obliging. Top marks and we will be back!
14:01 22 Nov 19
Food and service were excellent when we visited on a cold and windy day. Meal was spoilt by having to listen to the kitchen staff discuss whether they would prefer a 9 to 5 job instead of shift work and what time their girlfriend had got up that morning. I could see into the kitchen and there also seemed to be a few non serving people wandering in and out!
14:48 31 Oct 19
Brilliant! Free house-family owned/run. Right on harbour side. Bit unprepossessing from outside but lovely inside and varied menu. Goes back a way. Staff lovely. Not cheapest but do lovely sizeable cheese and potato topped Fish Pie with salad for £14.50.
16:11 20 Oct 19
Fantastic food! Seafood dishes are fresh and local where possible. Huge portions! Speedy service in spite of the place being very busy and everything freshly made. Interior is a little aged and chairs are hard.
16:34 08 Oct 19
Excellent choice of very good food. Nice selection of drinks. Good local fish, shellfish menu freshly cooked. Very pleasant and efficient staff.
07:28 02 Oct 19
Nice place with harborside were porch. Good seafood - here menu
07:43 23 Sep 19
Fantastic Sunday lunch. Great place to be. Lovely staff.
18:08 20 Sep 19
We had a fantastic lunch today at the Harbour Inn. Great food, very good service and a very reasonable price. Decor is perfect and pictures for sale on the walls are really impressive. We will definitely go back - if only to try the seafood platter which sounds amazing.
08:27 09 Sep 19
Cream Tea and service spot on. Busy afternoon mid September. Sat inside, tables could ha e done with a wipe / brush but no issue.
08:13 04 Sep 19
Lovely meal last night at the Harbour inn.Staff very friendly and attentive. Food was good but just needed just a little something extra.Need to add a couple of cocktails to the drink menu but on the whole a very enjoyable evening.
05:35 03 Sep 19
Food was ok, staff seemed to panic abit when it got busy and became flustered. I had the bouillabaisse and although tasty I had sandy cockles and a fish bone and scales still on the skin, my father had to same but his was given with x2 prawns as well where as I didn't have any. I would eat here again but I would chose something different
14:05 24 Aug 19
Good food, pricing was totally fine. Friendly staff. You can sit inside and outside.
11:22 23 Aug 19
Busy sea side location... Good food.. Lyme Regis is a disaster zone to park.. Avoid in school holidays and weekends... Great on a wet Tuesday.
16:09 18 Aug 19
Really nice place and great food and staff, will certainly go again.
09:25 18 Aug 19
Very good. Simple menu very well cooked. Great service - waiters and waitresses are well drilled and attentive. My wife said that her plaice dish was the best piece of fish she has ever had. I think the approach is to present simple dishes very well cooked. A great place for local fish dishes. Busy place so it's best to book.
16:23 12 Aug 19
It's OK tables cleared quickly, good people watching point from the veranda
22:38 02 Aug 19
Very nice place to eat. Only quarms is they didn't have some things on menu and price wise, it's a little expensive that what's it's worth. I had the chicken kiev which was nice, but I'd check other places in the area too.
17:23 24 Jul 19
Generally good food but on the night I visited they’d run out of the main vegetarian meal. This left me no option but to order a large portion on a veggie starter. When my meal arrived I asked fir a little more parmazan cheese to which I was told I could but would be charged extra. Very disappointing, considering I wAsnt able to have my first choice meal
22:43 07 Jul 19
An excellent lunchtime meal 🍴 for the four of us great staff excellent food at a reasonable price. The place was busy with locals and tourists which is testament to the quality of the pub
16:11 07 Jul 19
A large section of sailing yachts, you can walk around on the harbour wall, the views all around are lovely to at.
06:05 04 Jul 19
Went down with the wife last night... Not the cheapest place to eat in lyme but the food was very nice and worth every penny. The staff are very friendly too and more than happy to help... So if your looking for a little bit more than pub grub I would highly recommend the harbour inn. 😀
17:26 01 Jul 19
Very hospitable. Lovely freshly caught haddock. One of the best in Lyme regis so I was told by a local whom I shared a meal with.
21:52 21 Jun 19
What a wonderful dining experience. Went here for our anniversary and the service was great. Food was absolutely beutiful. We had mussels and duck as starters, lobster and scallops as main followed by raspberry pannacotta and treacle pudding!!.Gorgeous will definatly return
22:54 10 May 19
Great place, tasty local fish, great all round food. Staff all very nice and helpful. Highly recommend.
07:02 30 Apr 19
Harbour Inn. Really good, lovely staff quick service. Food fantastic and nicely served. Highly recommended
06:58 20 Apr 19
It has a nice area right on the sand. We didn't eat here, so can't say how the food was but we where able to have a coffee whilst still allowing the children to play on the beach along side of us.
16:12 19 Apr 19
Yummiest cream teas here - just what you need after a chilly walk through lovely Lyme Regis. Stunning art, great ambiance, lovely friendly staff and delicious food. Well worth a visit.
15:54 18 Apr 19
Love this place. Always have. Good food, lovely service. Just an all round good place
15:54 07 Apr 19
Food was incredible, beautifully made and the manager was so knowledgeable and welcoming. His attention to detail didn't go unnoticed. Will be hard to match the mussels anywhere else!
21:53 06 Mar 19
Really quiet in earlt march. But service and quality didn't suffer. Wife had massive bowl of mussels and i had rib eye. Very happy with both food and ale.
22:58 21 Feb 19
Friendly quick service though slightly old fashioned decor but many loyal customers. Food was tasty and large portions- kids meals were adult sized. Prices were not cheap but I guess they give the large portions because of this.
22:49 07 Feb 19
What a splendid meal. Freezing cold and blowing a gale outside. Inside a warm and cheerful reception with great food on offer. Great local fish on offer. Great help and advice so far as our wine was concerned. We left well fed and well contented. We will return for certain.
19:22 19 Jan 19
Really nice place on the harbour. I met up with friends for coffee and a brownie. The staff were attentive and really friendly. The coffee they make is really good. The homemade brownie with cream was gorgeous and just what I needed after a long coastal walk. There's outdoor seating as well which is great for the long evenings. Definately worth a visit.
20:41 03 Jan 19
Met some dear friends here for lunch today. We had a wonderful time - the service was excellent; friendly, helpful and patient when we were talking too enthusiastically to look at the menu and choose! Fabulous selection of fish and seafood; a little pricey, but quality and quantity are great. Busy and bustling atmosphere, even though a Thursday lunchtime in the lull after New Year. Its situation is stunning too, with outside seating opposite the harbour and famous Cobb. Highly recommended, but book in advance for peace of mind.
00:45 30 Dec 18
Always a good vibe in there. Few nice ales on the bar, staff are always great. And the food is reliably decent. I had the Hake and a pudding. Left feeling very satisfied.
00:21 19 Dec 18
Only had a beer here but food looked good with a interesting menu. Nice to be able to sit outside with a beer and watch the world pass. Friendly helpful staff
16:59 30 Nov 18
We've just had a lovely memorable meal at the Harbour Inn in Lyme Regis. The food was delicious and served hot, the fish as fresh as I've had in ages! Also, the service was second to none, the lovely young person who waited on us was excellent, attentive and very helpful, in terms of gluten free, and other needs. Two dessert spoons, no bother, and great advice on the tastiest desserts... We'll definitely be back!
09:09 05 Nov 18
The fish soup is stunning!!! I get cravings to go there.. lovely beach seating when the weather is kind & covered terrice seating outside. Inside is welcoming plenty of room and decor to a good standard!
20:43 31 Oct 18
Popped in here today for a cream tea while visiting Lyme. Pleasant serving staff. Not busy - but wouldn't expect that in late October. Scones were good, ditto tea. Would visit again.
21:37 24 Sep 18
Party of 8, just had probably the tastiest and best value fishy dinner for many a year. Very busy but service very efficient.
20:54 18 Sep 18
Fantastic food and great service. Highly recommended. And the boss always has time for a chat.
13:11 06 Sep 18
Absolutely beautiful food. We both had the special fillet of local bass, wild mushroom, spinach and garlic cannelloni, wild mushroom and cheese sauce and vegetables. Amazing.... Staff very attentive and friendly. Do not go anywhere else.
23:28 05 Sep 18
GREAT PLACE. Despite sitting at a tiny table which we initially thought may ruin the experience the food and service definitely made up for it. Would visit again next time we're in town. *Try the lobster - it was fabulous*
18:23 02 Sep 18
The Harbour Inn is a prime location central and over looking the main sandy beach in Lyme. It displays a good menu including a few local fish meals. However, having asked for a glass of Prosecco, on tasting it my wife said "that's not Prosecco!" On enquiring it was apparent it was draft sparkling low grade sweetened, gassed wine. This was charged £1.50 more than the Sauvignon she changed it for. This is appalling service & practice & why are the restaurant not selling Prosecco by the glass or, half bottle?! This is a prime bar/restaurant in Lyme Regis!
10:30 26 Aug 18
Very good location and nice place. Lost our order and no one noticed. Except us. But they rectified it and gave us free drinks, although they brought us the wrong ones at first. Only sandwiches served between 3 and 5 though.
15:53 10 Aug 18
Good food pleasant staff only drawback not open all day for meals which is a shame
07:32 26 Jul 18
Excellent staff and food a bit pricey. The table and chairs are a bit uncomfortable after a while.
20:01 24 Jul 18
Best dinner you could have great staff looking after you they could not do more for you
21:24 01 Jul 18
Don't support the cruel owners of this establishment. We saw them pushing helpless seagull chicks off of a flat roof used for storage with a broom hoping to kill them. In a few more days they would have flown off anyway . Luckily myself and a couple of kindhearted locals caught the chicks and put them on an adjacent roof where mum could feed them. These people are hear tless Please eat and drink elsewhere.
16:35 01 Jul 18
Lovely food and a great choice of fish, vegetarian meals and a wonderful pudding menu, the staff were very friendly and approachable, nice choice of beers and a couple of draught ciders, never felt rushed and it was a full restaurant, good value, highly recommend.
17:36 25 Jun 18
Lyme Regis is part of the Jurassic coast line and has spectacular views , the beaches are spotless , there's a lovely walk along the sea wall looking out towards the coast line
17:05 08 Jun 18
Beautiful beach front consisting ice cream stalls, fish and chips and various tea rooms, I also found a really nice fishmongers and a deli shop. Well worth a visit if in the area.
16:54 24 May 18
Decent food and a reasonable choice of mostly fish dishes, although there are some meat based meals available. The wine list is quite comprehensive and not too expensive. Very nice coffee, but we didn't have room for a dessert, but they looked good.
13:35 23 May 18
Good if they bother to serve you. I've gone twice in the past year and they always have just stopped serving food even when it's still prime time. Such odd management decisions for otherwise a good pub.

12:14 03 May 18
Never had such a bland lobster. The portion of lobster was good but you could barely taste lobster beside it was chewy, even the sauce instead of over power or display the flavourness and freshness of seafood it was equally bland. The vegies were vegies though I enjoyed the season of the red cabbage.A good selection of wines.
18:35 01 May 18
An Excellent May Day fish lunch at a fairly busy venue. Luckily, my lady friend and I were quite early, checking in at around half past midday as the joint was rocking by one thirty. The service was prompt, friendly and efficient and the food delicious, served by cheerful young ladies. The price was reasonable, considering the fine quality of the fare. As someone said once, we’ll be back.
02:43 03 Apr 18
The good had been a bit mediocre on our last few visits, and the first soup and bouillabaisse were flavourless and unimpressive. The service is quick but the food is just not good enough for its current rating. It may well be one of the better places in Lyme, but still got lots of room for improvement...
18:34 01 Apr 18
Good food and very busy. Good selection of craft beer. Fish and chips was excellent. Overlooking the beach proving us with a perfect view of the sea.
19:49 29 Mar 18
Lovely atmosphere. Family friendly. In a great spot. With a decent menu.
07:29 27 Mar 18
I went in because of the high rating and almost went out again when I saw the interior. I'm glad I decided to stay because the food was absolutely brilliant. There is outside seating both on the terrace and on the beach. If you are looking for a decent atmosphere, go somewhere else (e.g. the Volunteer or the Royal Lion).
22:18 26 Mar 18
Slightly odd place - very much doesn’t feel like an inn and quite unwelcoming from the back entrance, with somewhat unusual decor. Service was good, and the place had a very friendly atmosphere once we were in and seated. The food was really very good and fairly reasonably priced. Will definitely be coming back.
16:13 23 Mar 18
Had lunch today, very nice food and great staff.
07:34 20 Mar 18
Typical English seaside restaurants. Good locationand simple menu. Ok portions and size. The service was good and with a smile.
08:06 07 Mar 18
Good food, good beer and welcoming staff, who allow dogs in the large lower seating area. This is good because over friendly dogs are not welcome at everyone's table, but our Daisy's big, brown, starving eyes can melt someone at 30 paces so she is happy!
18:29 23 Feb 18
Good food and location, but as a single diner, was shoved onto a small table by the kitchen and ignored by the wait staff, busy elsewhere. Did not feel welcomed, sorry.
00:43 16 Feb 18
Lovely location excellent food and friendly staff
16:52 13 Jan 18
We haf an excellent lunch here 13th Jan. I had game pie and my wife had sea bass. Both were delicious and cooked to perfection. Good service as well. We will return.
13:28 07 Jan 18
Good food and beer with outside seating next to The Cobb and seafront.
19:12 26 Nov 17
Great food. Excellent service. Friendly. Fish pie lush.
22:53 07 Nov 17
Went here on a Tuesday evening, all 3 courses were superb, the plaice was cooked to perfection and the sticky toffee pudding was excellent. Prompt and friendly service as well. Would highly recommend!
19:29 23 Oct 17
Great food and drinks. Martin always looks after us when we visit
17:06 23 Sep 17
Went there to get a crab sandwich on the dot of 2.30 and they said they had stopped serving food at 2.30 and wouldn't even make is a sandwich to go with the drinks we just bought
16:45 03 Jul 17
Lovely place, you can actually have a drink & eat right on the beach, with gorgous views of the Cobb area
13:35 26 Jun 17
Lovely fish and chips made fresh on site and nicest fish as fresh on the day and straight from the sea. Plenty of seating and helpful as well as polite staff. Very tasty chips as well as fish, service is swift.Pies, fish cakes, scampi and mushy peas are sold here. Lots of choice of condiments.Five star food hygiene, five star food safety, five star manual handling.Lovely take away and definitely one of the best in the UK. Cafe area is very clean and tidy. Not cheap but great quality and great service. They do take away as well as eat in.
11:37 01 May 17
Do not go to this place. The weather was vile wind and rain so inside the dinning room all the floors were wet. The door was left open many times and the draft very uncomfortable, It was cold and damp . It didnt help that there were several dogs soaking wet and very smelly in a eating area. Food was not good, soup was horrible both bowls went back hardly touched. Main course was only ok. Sorry this was not what we expected from the details on the web site. Waiting staff were very good.
